The factory C8 Z06 exhaust tips are not physically attached to the pipes coming from the engine. They are attached to a metal grating inside the center-exit exhaust housing. Air is one of the best thermal insulators known to mankind. Therefore, not only are the stock exhaust tips cosmetic, but they are also cooler than had they been attached to the pipes due to the air gap. Carbon fiber is tricky when it comes to heat tolerance. At a high enough heat, it will deform and ultimately get destroyed cosmetically and physically. To combat these properties, AEROLARRI has engineered the following into the Z06 exhaust tip covers:
--- The Z06 carbon fiber tip covers utilize a secondary air gap using the silicone gasket. Even that small 2mm gap of air is enough to help keep the carbon fiber cooler.
--- Thermal vents have been integrated into the rear of the Z06 tips. These cuts allow more air to pass through. And the additional surface area creates a radiator-like dissipation of heat. The position of these vents meets up with the rear metal grate where the airflow is highest coming from under the car.
--- A separate layer of heat-resistant dry carbon fiber lines the entire internal surface of the Z06 tips. It has a notably different surface texture. Further, the matrix material used is specifically formulated for high heat. The matrix is a rare and expensive component cost.
--- We have routinely measured the carbon fiber tip being around 200 degrees cooler than the stock tip which it covers. You can try that yourself with a regular laser thermometer.

Precision engineering is how the Z06 tips can be made so simple to install that no tools are needed. The inner diameter of the ZO6 carbon fiber tip is so accurate that it accounts for the stock tip, but also the stretched silicone gasket. The tolerances are extremely exacting. Without water as a lubricant, you would find it nearly impossible to fit the Z06 tip cover over the silicone gasket. Use the stainless steel twist ties to connect the tips to the metal grate behind. By wetting the parts with regular water, it slides over with a little force and finesse, at times. Then, simply position the tips how you want them to set. When the water dries, it secures the parts together. That’s all there is to install the Z06 carbon fiber tips. It should only take 5 minutes.
When the car starts and the exhaust is heated, the silicone gasket will expand by 10% to 15% further locking the parts more firmly. This will compensate for rain. The silicone gasket used is cook-top grade. That means you can literally get a big sheet of this silicone and put it on your stove and cook with your pan on the silicone surface.
--- Steps:
--- 1 Stretch the silicone gasket over the existing Z06 exhaust tip. Keep the bottom closer to the edge of the stock tip and nudge the top half further back- around halfway to the rear metal grate. The ring should be generally perpendicular to the ground.
--- 2 Using regular water, wet the silicone gasket and the inside of the Z06 carbon fiber exhaust tip.
--- 3 Slide the carbon fiber tip over the gasket until the top hits the metal grating in the back. You may need to wiggle and wobble with force also. Position all the tips how you want them to set when it dries.
--- 4 Allow the water to dry overnight, and you are ready to go!
--- 5 Use the included stainless steel twist ties to connect the tip to the grille. First tie the one end to the mesh grille at the bottom. Bend the tie to make a thin hook to grab the metal grate after pushing the hook through an opening. Twist tie that part firmly. Then tie the other end of the tie to a vent on the tip. Slide the tip onto the exhaust while pulling the length of excess tie wire. Once it is in position, twist the excess wire until it firmly secures both parts. Then tuck the excess wire behind the tip so it is hidden.
Notes: We include some extra gaskets, but only one is necessary. They can vary in thickness by 0.1 mm. So if it feels a tiny bit loose, you can just try a different gasket. - Check each tip for a film of excess clear coat around the vent holes. A quick swipe with a toothbrush or toothpick to knock off any excess. - These have not been tested on a track, yet.

Below are the Base C8 Corvette Stingray Exhaust tips which require welding and professional installation.
The AEROLARRI exhaust tips are custom made for the C8 Corvette's stock exhaust. They have genuine and solid carbon fiber outer barrels with stainless steel inner pipes. Inlet diameter is the same as the stock C8 Corvette. Ask your muffler shop to cut off the old and weld on these new ones. The outlet diameter is 4 inches and includes the carbon fiber. Length is 6.5 inches. Installation is a matter of your installer's skills. Expect to remove the bumper for installation. These tips have the same custom design as the ones for the Center Exit Exhaust, but they are different and specially made for the stock replacement. The tips also come with disposable clamps. They are included only for cases where people want to cut lengthwise slits on the inlet to make them clampable.
If they are not in stock, expect around 3 weeks for delivery.
Price for a full set of 4 tips is $399 (that's a quantity of 4X of the tips per order) . With FREE Shipping.

Instructions: (see picture below)
Blue Line Cut method: There are actually 2 places where you can cut off the original tips. The easy way will be to cut off the original tip where it ends. This is the blue line in the picture below. Cut along basically touching the end of the polished OEM tip. While checking for alignment, spot weld the new tip on at any of the blue dot areas. The original factory spot welds will keep it from sliding further down. But do not use them as an exact guide for alignment. Check for alignment manually and visually.
Orange Line Cut method: Here you can cut the pipe on the straight section before it expands towards the rear. This will make the tips more recessed by around an inch. Both look good. However, since the new tips have a slightly larger pipe diameter than that section along the orange line, you will be welding along the expanded area. The heat shield makes this more difficult to access.
- The tips come with clamps for free. These are not used in this process for a C8 Corvette install. They are just to throw in your parts box. We added them just in case we wanted to use these tips for a different application. As you can see from the picture, there is no place with enough straight length to clamp.
